To live is to express one’s self. Expression — the outcome of our enlarged excitation — impels us toward more self-forming .. experiencing more deeply. And yet, in the act of expressing ourselves, we are not aware of ourselves in the conscious sense. Self-awareness arises during the self-collecting, self-containing, and self-intensifying that follows a significant expression of being alive.
