Liminality — from Latin limen, “threshold”; an established anthropological term for the state of being between identities, states, or worlds (Arnold van Gennep, Victor Turner). Liminalia — a neologism built from liminal: “a realm of liminality,” things between worlds, which reminded me of POXE's "Do Something, Even When the Future's Still Loading" my "space between narratives" (2024_04_08) borrowed from Charles Eisenstein (space between stories).
Arnold van Gennep — The Rites of Passage ("Les Rites de Passage", 1909)
Victor Turner — The Ritual Process: Structure and Anti-Structure (1969)
