doubt fuel for change precursor for growth

• The German word for doubt, Zwedeln ("twoness"), suggests the split we feel when we experience doubt ... , which is the precursor for all growth
• Goethe: "Loyalty to petrified opinion" ... such as our own reikied sense of self ... with doubt comes greater angst ... risking doubt means risking greater anxiety ... is to open to the enlargement of personality against which our rigid standpoint is a defense
• Doubt is the necessary fuel for change, and therefore growth ... the psyche summons us, quite apart from the desires of the ego, to relinquish what seemed clear, what protected us, and thereby what now mires us in yesterday. The problem, then, is not doubt; the problem is fear of change
